But few people I\u2019ve talked to know that Facebook, Google, and other companies also sell your data to third-party data brokers.<\/mark><\/p>\n<p id=\"e43f\" class=\"hz ia ep ay ib b ic id ie if ig ih ii ij ik il im\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">As the name suggests, a data broker trades in information\u2014your information. After the data broker buys information about you from Facebook or Google, it then in turns sells your information to other parties: businesses, advertisers, governments, consulting firms,\u00a0<a class=\"bv gn iy iz ja jb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90290157\/u-s-cell-carriers-are-probably-still-selling-your-real-time-phone-location-data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">bounty hunters<\/a> \u2014 you name it. <strong>They can see where you live, what you search for, who you like, who you love, what your religious and political beliefs are.
