{"id":12795,"date":"2015-06-09T06:00:14","date_gmt":"2015-06-09T06:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icebreakerexecutive.com\/?p=12795"},"modified":"2015-06-09T06:00:14","modified_gmt":"2015-06-09T06:00:14","slug":"you-are-not-alone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winningthinking.co.uk\/?p=12795","title":{"rendered":"Part 2 of 8: You are not alone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you drowning in information and complexity?\u00a0 Under impossible pressures to deliver?\u00a0 Feel like you&#8217;re in over your head?\u00a0 Take a deep breath&#8230; <strong>you are not alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As a turnaround specialist, I&#8217;m often called in to guide overwhelmed CEOs back into control of their organisations.\u00a0 They and their management teams almost always have the same complaints: they&#8217;re bombarded by distractions all day, their team needs constant decisions, and constant fire-fighting prevents them from focusing on strategic issues and unable to stay ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Often they have excellent plans, which they <strong>struggle to implement<\/strong>.\u00a0 In the field, the plan gets chipped away at and undermined to the point that it fails to deliver: and a new plan must be conceived to adapt to the new reality.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s difficult to know who to turn to.\u00a0 Consultants are unaccountable and under-deliver.\u00a0 And not enough people within the organisation are willing or capable of stepping up to assist.\u00a0 The sad end result is a loss of confidence in the people CEOs have around them&#8230;which makes regaining control feel even further out of reach.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/mlsvc01-prod.s3.amazonaws.com\/0e6bfc64301\/d76b142d-6db5-4e77-ba45-40831908337f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" name=\"ACCOUNT.IMAGE.63\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><br \/>\nDoes this sound familiar?\u00a0 In my experience, the underlying root cause of these symptoms is often<strong> a lack of organisational agility. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most organisations are<strong> too slow <\/strong>at making and executing good decisions.\u00a0 Their teams are<strong> paralysed<\/strong> by cultures that lack accountability and trust and where weak delivery has become the norm.\u00a0 Initiatives bog down and don&#8217;t stick because they&#8217;re<strong> overcomplicated <\/strong>and they<strong> take forever.<\/strong><br \/>\nImmediately restoring this organisational agility is often the first requirement in a turnaround.\u00a0 When you need to get fast results, business as usual just won&#8217;t do.\u00a0 So &#8211; simply because we&#8217;ve had to &#8211; at icebreaker as doers not takers we&#8217;ve spent 10 years developed and refining a process of getting an organisation <strong>from normal to agile in just a few weeks<\/strong>.
